gumi just opened pre-registration for Brave Frontier Versus, and longtime fans might be surprised by what they’re seeing. Instead of the usual JRPG setup we’ve come to expect since 2013, this latest entry goes full trading card game.

Don’t worry though – you’re still summoning legendary heroes and calling the shots as usual. The core spirit stays the same, just with a completely different gameplay approach.

The battles here move fast. Each match gets capped at five turns, so no more waiting around forever while your opponent thinks through every possible move.

How the Card Battles Work

You can throw multiple units onto the field right from turn one, and here’s the interesting part – cards come back to life every round. That means your strategy keeps shifting throughout each match.

Up to six units can battle at once, which creates this neat balance where you’re playing offense and defense simultaneously. The classic Brave Bursts make their return too, showing up as Manifestation Cards on turns three and five.

One thing that makes this more beginner-friendly: decks get built entirely from character cards. No need to wade through tons of different card types when you’re just starting out.

Pre-Registration Rewards Worth Grabbing

The milestone campaign rewards scale up based on how many people sign up. Hit 10,000 pre-registrations and everyone gets 2 Melody of Fire and Ice, 2 Symphony of Earth and Thunder, and 2 Hymn of Light and Darkness.

At 30,000 sign-ups, those numbers bump up to 3 of each. Reach 50,000 and you’re looking at 5 of each. The big prize comes at 100,000 pre-registrations – that unlocks 1,000 free Gems for everyone.
